A wart is a rough and small skin growth caused by HPV (Human Papilllomavirus) infection. It is bumpy and resembles a cauliflower and sometimes even a solid blister. It typically appears on hands and feet but can develop on other parts of the body too.
There are different types of warts. Plantar warts grow on the sole of the foot, Flat warts on the face and legs while Periungual warts are mostly found under and around the nails. Though warts are not cancerous, they do look unsightly.
Though there are many wart treatments available like burning acid and freezing but laser wart removal is by far the best treatment. Unlike other treatments that are painful and sometimes ineffective, laser wart treatment is very effective and removes warts both quickly and safely. It coagulates the wart and dries it up without creating an open wound.
The Gentlemen’s Clinic is specialized in laser wart removal. Book your appointment with us today to get warts removed from any part of the body.
The ND YAG laser beam bypasses the epidermis (the upper layer) of the skin and gets absorbed by the tiny blood vessels that feed the wart near the dermis of the skin. The laser light specifically targets the pigments within the blood supply to the wart. It causes a blood blister and ultimately kills the HPV that causes warts.
The laser wart treatment is gentle on the skin and doesn’t hurt. However, you may feel a slight pinching sensation during the treatment. The sensation can be described as similar to bacon grease when sprinkled on the skin. Also, topical gel or local anesthesia can be used, but it is not usually required.
Short-term side effects are skin redness and swelling. This is because of exposure of the skin to the laser. The treated area heals in a few days returning the skin texture and tone back to normal.
On average, it takes 5 to 30 minutes and 1-2 sessions are enough to remove warts. However, the number of treatments and the time frame is variable depending on the number of warts, size and infected area. Deeper and more resistant warts may require additional treatment sessions to achieve optimal results. Feel free to consult our experts to learn how many sessions your case may require.
The treatment cost varies from case to case. The cost is determined based on the number of warts to be removed, their size, location and type. Please note laser wart treatment is not covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Program).
It is safe and is becoming increasing popular globally for wart removal. In this treatment only the light interacts with your skin.
